- Coaching the Coach Through Reflective Consultation
Video Introduction: In the first video clip (Part 1 - 10:33 minutes), the inviting partner is shown meeting with her supervisor to review a challenge encountered in helping a lead teacher in an elementary school get the rest of her team on board in implementing evidence-based practices through the systematic use of the NPDC process.
In the second video clip (Part 2 - 9:57 minutes), the inviting partner is shown meeting with her supervisor to review a coaching experience she had with an early childhood team on the implementation of the Peer Mediated Instruction and Intervention practice with fidelity.
In both segments, the supervisor asks open-ended questions to help her inviting partner clarify her concerns, recognize assets, develop a plan for action and complete a coaching log. These video vignettes might be used in a supervisory relationship to support a coach in reflecting upon and analyzing her own coaching practices. It may also be particularly helpful to a coach who is newly practicing coaching within a technical assistance partnership.
